Bridging Chicago and Taiwan

Founded first in Taichung, MAGN 7 Legacy Family Office began as a way to manage our own family’s wealth and has since grown to support second- and third-generation Taiwanese Americans in overseeing and preserving their assets in Taiwan and beyond.

Why “7” ?

In Taiwanese culture, the number 7 is considered a symbol of good fortune and smooth progress. In the U.S. investment world, our focus is just as meaningful: We invest solely in the MAGN 7 (The Magnificent Seven)—a concentrated portfolio of America’s top-performing, high-conviction technology and growth stocks. We follow a disciplined strategy: no more than seven core positions, held long-term to harness the power of compounding.

MESSAGE FROM Steven Lee

Chief Investment Officer,
MAGN 7 Legacy Family Office

After graduating with a degree in Economics from San Jose State University in 1992, I returned home to Chicago to begin my journey in finance. My first role was as a Clerk on the trading floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), where I learned the fast-paced, disciplined nature of the futures market. I later spent over a decade at a major investment bank, gaining experience across global markets. In 2003, I chose to step into the independent investment banking world, where I’ve remained ever since, now with over 30 years of experience in the industry.

To me, business, community, and even the golf course have all been training grounds for discipline, resilience, and growth. I’ve come to believe that success isn’t just about talent or intelligence. Rather, it’s about doing the work, mastering the knowledge, and staying committed through every stage. I’m usually the first one in - researching, planning, laying the foundation - and the last one out, stepping back only when the data tells me it’s time, and taking full responsibility for every decision made along the way.

When I believe in a company, I hold on for the long term. I study it deeply, stay patient, and stand firm through the ups and downs.

As a professional investor - and as someone shaped by both Eastern values and American experience - I’ve learned that true reward comes only from wholehearted effort. I believe that if you give your best, not just to the markets but to the people you serve, then blessings will follow. Maybe not always in the way you expect, but always in a way that matters.
